ApoA1 is the principal protein component of HDL (high density lipoprotein). It is involved in reverse cholesterol transport and has anti-inflammatory properties. High apoA1 levels are associated with a lower risk for atherosclerosis.
ApoB is the main protein component of LDL (low density lipoprotein). LDL is regarded as a carrier of bad cholesterol and high apoB levels are associated with an increased risk for atherosclerosis. The balance between the levels of apoA1 and apoB in blood is of high importance and has been put forward as an indicator in the risk assessment of cardiovascular diseases*.
The ELISAs for human apoA1 and apoB from Mabtech consist of matched pairs of monoclonal antibodies, developed by Mabtech. Both ELISAs display cross-reactivity with apolipoproteins from Cynomolgus and Rhesus macaques and can be used for the analysis of monkey apoA1 and apoB. The monoclonal antibodies in the ELISAs do not cross-react with bovine apolipoproteins and the ELISAs are therefore also an ideal choice for monitoring apoA1 and apoB production in cultured hepatocytes or cell lines such as HepG2 and Caco2.
The ELISAs are suitable for analysis of cell supernatants and samples from serum/plasma. The antibodies are available as separate reagents for immunoprecipitation and Western blotting. The antibody pairs are also supplied in ELISpot format.
Please note that the products are sold for research use only.
